Cultivating the Seeds of Sustainable Materials: BenQ Materials and TwIChE Successfully Conclude the 2nd "Green Material Innovation" Competition

The 2nd "Green Material Innovation" competition, co-hosted by BenQ Materials and the Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers (TwIChE), successfully concluded its awards ceremony during the TwIChE Annual Meeting in late November 2025. Through deep industry-academia collaboration, BenQ Materials aims to encourage students to transform forward-looking material knowledge into practical applications with ESG value, jointly driving the green transformation of Taiwan’s industries.
Innovation Spotlight: From Smart Healthcare to Net-Zero Carbon Emissions
The theme of this year’s competition was closely aligned with BenQ Materials’ core technologies—including display materials and biomedical applications—while precisely dovetailing with the government’s "Net Zero Green Living" action guidelines. The winning teams not only demonstrated exceptional professional depth but also tackled real-world sustainability challenges through innovative design:
- Silver Award | National Taipei University of Technology : stood out with their "Smart Eco-friendly Wound Dressing," showcasing the potential of biomedical materials in sustainable care.
- Bronze Award | National Cheng Kung University & Feng Chia University : Developed a "Simplified Inflammation Sensor," streamlining material application while enhancing the convenience of health monitoring.
- Bronze Award | National Taiwan University of Science and Technology : Proposed "From Carbon Waste to High Value: A Bipolar Electrolysis Valorization System Based on Dual Single-Atom Catalysis," precisely addressing the trend of carbon reduction.
In addition, four finalists received Merit Awards. In total, seven elite teams demonstrated the limitless possibilities of material science in the finals.
