For us, sustainability is not an option – it’s a part of our daily work.
ESG is not just a set of metrics measuring corporate sustainability; it’s the real actions that BenQ Materials practices every day. From every design and meeting to each decision we make, we aim to think ahead and do a little more, embedding sustainability into every detail.
Sustainable Design: Green Innovation That Starts at the Source
At BenQ Materials, we believe that every design decision is an opportunity to protect the Earth.
To us, design isn’t just about making products more functional – it’s about making them more eco-friendly, durable, and less wasteful from the very beginning. Our sustainable design strategy focuses on reducing carbon footprint and resource consumption, simplifying packaging, and making sustainability a tangible part of our everyday operations.
Here are a few examples of what we’re doing:
-
MBR (Membrane Bioreactor): Reusing Every Drop of Water up to 15 Times
Through membrane technology, we treat wastewater to meet reuse standards and return it to the production line. Each drop of water can be reused up to 15 times, achieving significant water savings and embodying the principle of circular regeneration. -
RTO (Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer): Turning Waste Heat into Reusable Energy
Waste heat generated in the production line is captured by the RTO system and reused in the manufacturing process. This reduces 1,529 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually – equivalent to the carbon absorption of 3.9 Da’an Forest Parks – and has been certified for carbon offset by the Environmental Protection Administration. -
Solvent-Free Polarizer Process: Redesigning High-Emission Hotspots
We addressed the solvent-intensive process in polarizer production by developing a solvent-free method. This significantly reduces carbon emissions and was honored with the Touch Taiwan Gold Panel Award. -
Reusable and Recyclable Packaging: Shipping Without Waste
We designed packaging materials that can be collected and reused by customers, enabling a truly circular packaging model.
At every stage of product design, BenQ Materials strives to reduce carbon emissions, extend product life cycles, and lower resource consumption. We’ve set a clear goal: by 2030, we aim to reduce the carbon emissions of our major existing products by 55% compared to the 2020 baseline.
Looking ahead, we will continue to use design as the starting point to embed sustainable design throughout our product life cycles, advancing low-carbon transformation together with our value chain.
